Step 13: POSSESSION
By tradition, possession of the property is turned over to the buyers on the day of closing, but is sometimes 1-3 days after closing, giving the seller time to move once they are assured that the transaction is completed.
This timeframe, however, is defined by the contract and is part of the negotiation process. If you are also buying a home, you may want to request a longer timeframe, because you may need to move before you can to give possession to your buyers.
